Instead of producing heat directly, a heat pump uses electricity to transfer heat from one place to another. As a result, they are two or three times more effective than conventional water resistant to heat. To move the heat, the heat pump works behind the refrigerator. The fan draws warm air from wherever the heat pump is located (basement, utility room or garage) and circulates it through a series of refrigeration coils. The partially reheated refrigerant is pumped into a compressor to increase pressure and temperature, then into a packer or tank-flow condenser. The superheater transfers heat to the water, cools it, and then returns to the cooling fan where it starts its journey again, collecting the warm air in the space.
